This kind of study tackled the potential of tilapia aquaculture as being a major contributor to meals production and poverty pain relief all over the world. To encompass this subject, tilapia history, beginning, aquaculture potential, constraints, current and long term production levels were reviewed. Tilapias happen to be native for the River Nile and The african continent in general they were released and disseminated worldwide. Positive aquacultural qualities of tilapia made tilapias the most cultured species globally now in addition to the near future. Tilapia world production is likely to reach three or more million tons this year 2010. Thus, tilapias could make a tremendous contribution for the livelihoods support especially in the warm and subtropical countries.

Even though it is difficult to assess if this species has made a significant contribution towards the animal necessary protein needs of rural Cookware communities, that certainly a new major effect on aquaculture innovations in Asia and the Pacific since the 1971s. Twelve tilapia species (six Oreochromis spp.; two Sarotherodon spp.; and four Tilapia spp. ) and one hybrid have been introduced into 30 Asian countries.
